3L IMPROVED MASON Jars -- All Variants

Here we have a quart and half gallon RB 227. The half gallon is unlisted in RB10.

Both jars are tough to find but especially the half gallon.

BALL IMPROVED jar help....

Ok folks.....here are a couple of pics of jars I can not find in RB #10. The two pints are almost an exact match for #226, however, the "R" is not dropped in IMPROVED. Possible unlisted variation?

The bottom jar I just can not find....period...am I over looking something? Thanks in advance. David aka dygger60

Early machine made 5 liner

I have always liked these earliest machine made Ball jars. The shoulders are very square and the glass is a deep aqua color. Usually these have pretty weak embossing but this example is real nice and crisp. Most often too the word Mason is plural with Masons instead of just Mason. Patent is cut a bit crooked on this jar which gives it more character. Some people don't care for these too much but they are an interesting series of jar that Ball made on the earliest of machines of the time circa late 1890's. This is the jar the brown colored lid came on.

Dumb question about Ball Improved Mason jar threads

I know this must have been covered at some time, some where, by some one but I haven't seen it or for some reason don't remember. Why is the narrower portion of the neck above the threads on the Ball Improved Mason jars threaded? I can't see any reason for it having been done.

... and where would you put this one B [only]

This is a clear HG jar with EVERYTHING except the B in Ball ghosted! I can't even tell what it use to "B" " src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif">
